Obstacles
At Sparrow, it’s been rewarding to see so many of the obstacles in our path fall away. Of course, there’s still plenty of work ahead.
When you’re building something new or trying to approach things differently, obstacles are inevitable. In fact, it can sometimes feel like the only reward for overcoming a big obstacle, is to simply be presented with more obstacles. Some people see obstacles as warnings, signs that they’re on the wrong path.
But obstacles aren’t inherently bad or an indication of failure. More often, they’re valuable hurdles that distinguish your success from others. Sometimes, it helps to embrace them—or even, in a way, fall a little in love with them—before you can properly address them.
Obstacles are just problems we have not solved yet. Solving the right problems, in the right order, and solving enough of them is what ultimately gets you where you’re going…so bring it on.
Wanderer above the Sea of Fog is a painting by German Romanticist artist Caspar David Friedrich made in 1818.
